Arsenal are finally getting the recognition they have worked hard for. The Gunners missed out on a chance at Champions League football after a saddening loss in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur. However, Manchester City club icon, Sergio Aguero, has backed The Gunners to secure a place as they try again this season.
In an interview with Daily Mail concerning who he thinks will be possible contenders for the Premier League title, Aguero omitted both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur from his top 4 list.
The Argentinian still believes that his former club will lift the Premier League trophy at the end of the season while Liverpool emerge as runners up again.
“My candidates are Manchester City, which I think can repeat, Liverpool, Chelsea and I add Arsenal, which has strengthened very well and has had great games in the pre-season.”
Manchester City has a thorough squad rejig this summer which has raised a lot of doubt as to whether they will clinch yet another Premier league trophy this season. The Sky Blues are not done yet; they hope to make at least one addition, preferably at left-back to the squad before the window closes.
Aguero believes Arsenal’s performance will outshine North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur and Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United. The former striker seems to be really impressed in the brilliant show that The Gunners pulled in pre-season.
“Everything will be very even, but we will have to be attentive to Arsenal’s performance, which has put together a great project with help of Arteta and I think that this year they will give people something to talk about.”
