It’s just been three years since Arsenal made their record signing in the shape of Nicolas Pepe.
The 27year old Ivorian moved to the Emirates in £72m deal following a stellar performance at his former French side, Lille. Pepe’s last season at Lille was arguably his most productive yet, as he guided his side to securing second place in the French Ligue 1.
Although, the Ivorian blossomed in his debut season and part of his sophomore, he has seen his game time reduce drastically under present manager, Mikel Arteta. His loss of favour in the sights of Arteta was first attributed to Willian’s move to Arsenal, and now the dazzling form of Bukayo Saka.
Nicolas Pepe however not willing to spend his youthful age sitting on the sidelines, and as such is on his way back to France.
Reports emerging from The Athletic Uk has stated that Pepe has reached full agreement with OGC Nice for a season long loan spell. However, the French side are not willing to make the Ivorian a mainstay at the club yet, as such they have no intention to sign him permanently for now.
One week left of the transfer window, and Nice are fully confident that they can complete the deal with Arsenal before the curtains close this summer.
