Chelsea’s Captain and Right back César Azplicueta is set to remain at the London club amid interests from Barcelona, per reports from Fabrizio Romano.
The 32 year old was has been a subject of Interest from the Catalan giants all through the transfer window. Barcelona’s coach Xavi was really desperate to sign the Spaniard as he was a potential replacement to Veteran Dani Alves, but after discussions with boss Thomas Tuchel and Todd Boehly, César made up his mind to stay at the club.
Azplicueta joined Chelsea a decade ago from Marseille and has enjoyed a huge amount of success. He became the captain of the club back in 2019 following the exit of Gary Cahill and led them to UCL glory in 2021.
The Spaniard is now expected to spend a further 2 years at the London club with an announcement from the club expected soon.
