After successfully hijacking Manchester City’s move for Cucurella, London side Chelsea are now looking to repeat the same feat against the other side of Manchester as the Blues looks to hijack Frenkie De Jong move to Manchester United, per reports from Fabrizio Romano.
Manchester United had earlier agree a deal with Barcelona for the services of the Dutchman but hit a stumbling block due to the player’s deferred wages with Barcelona. Chelsea are now willing to hijack the transfer as they are ready to match Manchester United’s offer while other reports suggests that they might further pay the deferred wages.
Spanish reporter Gerard Romero had earlier reported that Chelsea are ready to do “Everything” to bring the player to London. Chelsea wants to make De Jong their fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Raheem Sterling, Khalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella.
The final decision now lies with Frenkie De Jong as the player still has a chance to remain at Barcelona should he agree to take a pay cut. Or he could favor a move to the Blues over a move to Manchester United considering Chelsea’s offer and their presence in the UCL.
The next hours are viewed as Key hours in this transfer as De Jong is expected to make a decision soon.
