Chelsea have submitted a fresh bid of £70M to Leicester for Wesley Fofana after their initial £60M bid was rejected, but have already seen this proposal turned down as well, per reports from Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues are desperately looking for means to bolster their defense after losing two first team defenders to Spanish giants this summer, Antonio Rudiger heading to the Spanish capital to join champions Real Madrid while Andreas Christensen joined up with Barcelona. Chelsea haven’t been inactive in the summer as they have already added Senegalese defender Khalidou Koulibaly to their set up and narrowly missed out on Jules Kounde who moved to Barcelona.
Chelsea have now turned their attention to Leicester’s 21 year old centre-back, Wesley Fofana. Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers have insisted the player is not for sale and is desperate to keep the player for another season which is why several bids have been turned down. Chelsea are however willing to up their bid to tempt Leicester to sell.
Personal terms aren’t expected to be much of a problem as sources close to player reveals that he would be open to the move.
Chelsea have already completed three major signings this summer with the addition of Raheem Sterling, Khalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella and new owner Todd Boehly isn’t reluctant to splash the cash on a new centre-back
