F.C. Barcelona intend to knock again on Man City’s door before the transfer window closes. Aymeric Laporte’s name has most recently been mentioned as a possible target for the Catalans.
Reports from sources in Spain have said that the Spain international will become a priority for Barça if they fail to sign Jules Kounde this summer. Kounde has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, who seem to be more prepared (financially and otherwise) than Barça.
After losing Clément Lenglet to Tottenham Hotspur, the Spanish club have been keen to sign a replacement for him in the running window. As a deal for Kounde seems really difficult for them to complete, Barcelona will attempt to capitalise on Laporte’s allegiance to the Spanish national team and draw him home.
However, Manchester City will unlikely sanction the sale of the 28 year old defender. Laporte was City’s most crisp centre back last season as well as their most accurate passer overall. He also proved aerial dominance in set-piece situations, scoring 4 times for the team.
The French born defender also stated in an interview last month that he is perfectly happy at the Etihad and at the very top of his game as far as the competition is involved.
