Brighton and Hove Albion have confirmed via correspondent on The Athletic, Andy Naylor, that discussions with Manchester City over Marc Cucurella have ended.
The correspondent has stated that Brighton will not discuss any further incremental bid increases from Man City for Marc Cucurella, and will only accept an offer that meets their asking price of upwards of £50M.
This means that the player’s transfer request to the club had little or no effect as they have stood firm on their valuation for him. It is now very unlikely that Manchester City will pay such price for the defender and would rather go for another option.
Both Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo and Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa are targets for City and a pursuit for either of them is expected to intensify in the coming days. However, this is not concrete as the English champions have not officially stated whether they will pay Cucurella’s asking price or not.
