Pep Guardiola can go to bed knowing that he has had a very productive summer transfer window. With a long month left to the end of the window, Guardiola has more than enough time to handle his lingering left-back issues.
Manchester City made an early attempt to sign their top priority left-back option, but saw their proposal turned down outrightly by Brighton. Knowing the sizable difference between the both clubs’ valuation of the Spanish player, City have lined up other options in case a deal is not struck with the Seagulls.
Despite recent interests from the Mancunians in Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa, City may as well turn to long term business partners- Benfica instead.
Reports according Marca has stated that Alex Grimaldo has become an option for Mancity as Cucurella’s situation at Brighton remains a dilemma. Benfica have placed more affordable £20m price tag on Grimaldo in relation to Marc Cucurella’s £50m value.
The next few days will determine if Manchester will rival Newcastle, Barcelona and Juventus for Grimaldo’s signature, or up their bid to land their dream player; Marc Cucurella.
