The long awaited premier league 2022/2023 season is finally at our doorstep. With just three days left to the start of the league, the Premier League are putting measures in place to ensure that every team has an equally fair chance at the title.
The VAR system has run three successful seasons in England so far, and is about to kickstart its fourth. It has been a subject of much controversy over the past three seasons but there is no disputing that it has come to stay. Its naysayers are often those on the receiving end of its fair judgement, however the testimony is different when the system rules in their favour.
Some supporters however have often criticized the VAR techniques claiming it influences the referee’s initial decision. Great suspicion has been raised about the close-ended digital communication between the officiating referee and the VAR team; regarding it as a subject of much scrutiny.
However, the Premier league in a bid to ensure transparency have announced that the communication between on and off the pitch officials will be made available to the general public after every match.
