Manchester City’s dreams of landing priority left back Marc Cucurella while keeping their hands out of their pockets have been shattered. With just medical standing in the way of Zinchenko’s move to Arsenal, Manchester City were hoping to recycle the Ukrainian’s £30m transfer fee to fund Cucurella’s move to the Etihad.
Reports according to The Atletic UK have emerged that City’s £30m bid for the 23year old has been turned down blatantly. The Seagulls are hoping to sell the Spaniard for about than thrice the £15m amount they got him for after having an impressive debut season.
With Cucurella ranking third place in the Premier League’s most chances created from open play, and an alluring defensive record, Brighton are looking to exploit the Etihad’s wealth in exchange for their £50m priced gem.
However, Manchester City are firm on walking away from doing business with Brighton if a compromise cannot be made. The Sky Blues are known to slam the door on deals that prove to be tough as in the cases of Harry Maguire and Koulibaly, and this could be no different.
With a lot of time left for a deal to still be struck this transfer window, it is still uncertain as to whether the title league holders will push further on Cucurella or opt for Borna Sosa instead.
