It has been a very tense summer for everyone at the Etihad. There have been numerous reports linking Bernardo Silva to Barcelona and the uncertainty leaves the Cityzens in suspense.
Silva remains one of City’s most valued treasures and they would love to keep him at all costs. However, in a recent press conference with Pep Guardiola, the Spanish coach dropped another update regarding the future of the Portuguese player.
Pep Guardiola on Bernardo Silva: “I want him to stay, definitely. But my answer was the same with different players last season. If a player wants to leave and the club has a good offer, it is common sense. It is nothing special; it is the reality. Bernardo is special, a important player, but I don’t know what will happen. As far as I know, we’ve not had an offer.”
Pep Guardiola on BernardoSilva: “I would love for Bernardo to continue here, a very special player in the locker room. But I don’t know what will happen. What happens will happen, if he stays is perfect, if he has to leave it’s because football is like this.”
Pep Guardiola: “But at the same time if you want to leave, have an offer, clubs come to an agreement. It’s common sense. He’s an important player, special, but I don’t know what will happen. We didn’t get any offer, last season either. Bernardo’s ready, training well for Sunday.”
Pep Guardiola on Bernardo Silva’s future after so many big name exits this summer: “I was so happy working with Oleksandr [Zinchenko], Raheem [Sterling] and Gabriel [Jesus]. They were three guys with fantastic character, but sometimes the move is better for many reasons and you have to divide our path.
Pep Guardiola: “The players’ desire is most important, I want people tp be happy here. I would love Bernardo to stay, he is a special player, but I don’t know what will happen.”
“Players have a desire and I’m not a person to stop a person’s desire in life. A football career is so short. I’m a small part of the club, I have to speak to the club, they decide and I say okay.”
