Manchester City are just two days away of beginning their hunt for a fifth Premier League title in six seasons.
Their opening game against West Ham on Sunday has been predicted to be ferocious one, owing to a second successive Community Shield loss, and also the awareness of the match’so officials. The Cityzens are well aware that clinching a third successive Premier League title is all about points, and they’ll be looking to secure as many as possible early enough.
Pep Guardiola however, has shared a bit of his genius recipe on how to approach the next season with a team now involving goal machine, Erling Haaland.
Pep Guardiola on the #PL season: “There are two [seasons], one before the World Cup – you can’t win it before, but you can lose it. You have to start well, knowing that if we drop points you have 37 fixtures.
“We won two titles one point ahead, we know we can win 12-14 in a row – Liverpool as well. You have to start well, but also the feeling since we arrive, maybe we have a longer vacation than normal, the team I rely on them a lot.
Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland: “I don’t know how many goals he will score and I don’t care. As much as he is, does what he has done in his young career. We are not going to win for Erling or lose for Erling, we have to be ourselves.”
“He’s quick, he’s a guy who played 90 mins last week for the first time in five months, he’s a big figure physically. Maybe needs more time to get used to the conditions. If he has doubts he’ll score goals, he will score goals, he’s done it every year.”
