Manchester City have landed in Denmark for the second leg of their Champions League tie with FC Copenhagen. The Cityzens ran riots in the reverse fixture with an entertaining 5-0 victory.
Pep Guardiola has spoken to the press ahead of Tuesday’s fixture. He highlighted his rotation plans involving the risk of overworking goalscoring maestro, Erling Haaland. Here is what the boss said:
• On plans to rest Haaland: “We will speak with the physios and then decide. It’s true there is a risk for fatigue. It must involve everyone.”
• On Copenhagen challenge: “I am pretty sure the players will know. If we play two months after maybe it will be different, but one week later we have the opportunity to close qualification. In the last games we play very well. I am more than satisfied so far with how [we are playing].”
• “In the last game better [defending]. Generally it is good. We can do better and I am satisfied. We play three games in not many days. After the Liverpool game we have one week. We do not have much time to reflect on how maybe we are attacking or defending. You do not maybe have time to think about specific situations.”
• On Haaland: “He understands quickly and he is a nice guy. He is able to do this for the team, but we need to work together and that has happened. He is one of the best. I have very, very good strikers and Erling is one of them. I speak a lot about him, but sometimes I should not because the numbers, they do this.”
