Manchester City right back, Yan Couto, is focused on leaving the club ‘in a friendly way’ following dissatisfaction of loan moves. Expectations from the player to be used by Pep Guardiola are extremely low, as he has been loaned twice since joining the club in 2020.
Couto signed for Manchester City in the summer of 2020 for about £6 million and was immediately loaned out by the club to Girona on a season long loan deal. There was another of such occurrence when he was loaned again to S.C. Braga after his return to the Etihad from his season in Spain. The fullback made a total of 72 appearances between the two clubs.
The Brazilian talent has shared his intentions to leave the club with Txiki Begiristain, stating that he would prefer a permanent deal to another loan move. Couto’s idea is to join a club who can ‘fight for titles’.
Yan Couto has made this decision due to high levels of competition from other fullbacks such as Kyle Walker, Joan Cancelo, Oleksandr Zinchenko and temporarily John Stones. City are also in hot pursuit of Brighton and Hove Albion wing back, Marc Cucurella. This decision to leave therefore, is most suitable for the Brazilian talent’s hunger for game time and top tier competition.
