Manchester City are still very active in the current transfer window. Top talent, James McAtee, is already in Bramall Lane to undergo a medical with Sheffield United where he will play on a loan basis for one season.
The youngster attracted interest from a handful of clubs in the Premier League and first division of English club football as well as others in Spain and Scotland. Sheffield however, came out on top in their bid for the player.
McAtee was initially tipped to provide backup for the first team of Man City in central midfield after Bernado Silva and Ilkay Gundogan. Following his current loan spell, Manchester will look to retain Bernado Silva at the club this season amidst interest from Barcelona.
Gundogan has one year left in his current contract with Manchester City. Despite signing Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United, the Sky Blues may run out of options in central midfield if Gundogan does not extend his contract with the club. This is where McAtee comes into the equation, hence the loan decision rather than a permanent deal.
