Joao Cancelo was one of City’s most stellar players last season.
It was quite thrilling to watch the Portuguese turn his makeshift left-back into his priced possession under Pep Guardiola. Cancelo’s versatility and great quality in the final third has been quite enthralling.
While the Portuguese full-back has attributed his success to the warm reception of Manchester City’s staff and teammates, he has however identified his closest buddy on the team.
Joao Cancelo: “Bernardo [Silva] is now living with me in my house. As long as my girlfriend isn’t here, we’re living together. Bernardo Silva and I have a relationship for a long time, we are from the same generation at Benfica, we have a very beautiful friendship…”
Joao Cancelo: “We are two completely opposite people and I think that’s the funny thing. He’s a typical person from Lisbon and I’m just that guy who practically came from the street.”
The Portuguese duo have inarguably brought a lot of colorful action to Guardiola’s side. It is also fascinating to realize that their health on-field relationship also rubs off on their personal lives.
