Manchester City have not completely walked away from a deal to sign Brighton’s Marc Cucurella, according to Rob Dawson
This debunks reports circulating last week that City have completely ended negotiations.
However, the Cityzens are adamant that they’ll not meet Brighton’s £50M valuation for the 24 year old, thus a deal can only be agreed after a compromise from one of the two teams.
The Seagulls are keen to keep their player of the season and are pretty confident in the negotiations. The Spanish international was signed from Getafe in 2021 on a 5 year deal, meaning he has 4 years left on his contract which is why Brighton feel they’re in the drivers seat.
Marc Cucurella is also keen on the move as Fabrizio Romano reported last week that he handed in a transfer request and feels the £50M valuation is unrealistic.
The Cityzens are also exploring a number of options should a deal for Cucurella fall through. Names like Borna Sosa, Alex Grimaldo have been mentioned and City is expected to make an official bid for one should Brighton refuse to budge.
