Manchester City see all their efforts get flushed into the drain as Chelsea complete the signing of Marc Cucurella after reaching an agreement with the Seagulls.
Chelsea agreed to pay a fee of £52.5m including Levi Colwill in the deal. The Blues have successfully hijacked the transfer from Manchester City after the Cityzens were reluctant to meet Brighton’s £50M asking price.
Despite agreeing to personal terms with the Cityzens, Cucurella quickly switched allegiance to Chelsea as they proved more willing to pay his price. The Seagulls were not desperate to cash in on their player of the season considering the fact that he had 4 years left on his contract, but with Chelsea meeting their demands, an agreement has quickly been reached.
The 24 year old is now expected to sign a contract with the Blues until 2028. He is expected to fly into London soon to complete and finalize the move and will be unveiled by the club alongside Sterling and Koulibaly.
This move leaves City in search of a Left Back but the Cityzens have options in Borna Sosa and Álex Grimaldo while Sergio Gomez has also gotten a mention recently.
