It has been a rather busy summer window in England and for Manchester City especially. The reigning champions have spent quite a huge sum in the transfer market, but have also gained massively within this period with the sales of some senior colleagues in Gabriel Jesus (to Arsenal) and a recently completed Sterling (to Chelsea) deal. However, City do not seem to be drawing the curtains for the summer just yet.
Manchester City’s intentions to sign a new center back remains unchanged, with the possibility of Nathan Ake joining English rivals Chelsea increasing in popularity. City want a fee that is similar to what they paid Bournemouth for the defender back in 2020 with a little increment in the amount.
There have been reports of Man City’s interest in a handful of defensive talents across Europe and Joško Gvardiol seems to be most glaring on the radar. However, Leipzig are willing to keep the 20 year old at the club.
Amidst all the defensive transfer chaos at the Etihad, Marc Cucurella is still considered a top target for the Sky Blues. Man City are expected to submit a bid of about £45m for the Spaniard and finalise the deal as soon as possible to allow him join them on pre-season tour before the new campaign starts.
