The tension around the Etihad concerning Cucurella remains intense. City are still far from an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion for the player. There is a wide gap in valuation between the two teams and City are still £10m way from Brighton’s asking price.
A recent report from Fabrizio Romano has suggested that a final decision on Marc Cucurella will be made next week.
Other reports from England have stated that Manchester City might walk away from a deal for the player and go for another option. However, the Italian journalist mentioned that the reigning English champions have not negotiated with any other left-backs and still consider Cucurella a priority.
The player is disappointed as he considers working under Pep Guardiola a dream, but Man City have tried their best with a £40M proposal.
If the bid for Cucurella is declined again by the Seagulls, it is very unlikely that City will increase their bid further. In such a scenario, they may formally enter negotiations with other linked left-backs or go into the new season with Joao Cancelo and Josh Wilson-Esbrand to occupy those positions.
