Manchester City are no longer willing to make any further moves for top left back priority, Marc Cucurella. Both City and Brighton are refusing to cower away from their standing point, hence the transfer has hit a dead end.
The reigning Premier league kings are not exactly short of cash to meet Brighton’s £50m asking price, but have decided to channel their resources elsewhere. The Etihad club generated over £200m from the sales of three first team players and a whole lot of academy players this summer, while spending far less in bringing in three new players to the club. The Arab owned club can meet the demand without breaking a sweat but have not because they feel Brighton’s request for the 24 year old is too outrageous.
While Manchester City are keeping close tabs on Borna Sosa and Alex Grimaldo, they are still exploring a wide range of alternatives. Reports emerging from GOAL states that Manchester City are still in search of the ideal left back, and have enquired about Rayan Ait-Nouri.
The Wolverhampton Wandereres’ left back have impressed for his club over the past two seasons he has spent at the Molineux stadium, scoring twice and assisting four times in all competitions.
While it is still uncertain, how events will play out in the coming weeks, Manchester City still remain keen on signing a recognised left-back before the window closes.
