Manchester City hope to keep exceptional midfielder, Bernardo Silva, this summer amidst links with a move to Barcelona this transfer window.
The Portuguese midfielder has previously shown interest in joining the Catalan side and playing under head coach, Xavi. He made this interest known to Pep Guardiola and Manchester City board, telling them to accept a suitable offer from Barcelona if one comes through. City have however placed a €100 million price tag on Silva.
Despite the Spanish team’s desire to sign Bernardo, they will need to balance their financial books as well as generate more income through player sales to be able to complete the transfer. With Frankie De Jong’s transfer to Manchester United recently given a red light indication by FC Barca owner, Joan Laporta, the Catalan side now look very unlikely to succeed in landing Bernado in Spain this summer.
Bernardo Silva’s contract with Manchester City expires in 2025 and the club are also not under pressure to let him out just yet. Pre-season starts in about a fortnight and the English champions are intent on travelling with Bernardo as well as registering him as a City player for the new season.
