Manchester City are still having cold feet towards selling Bernardo Silva this summer. The Portuguese was one of City’s standout players last season and imparatively, the Sky Blues’ Premier League title can be attributed to his presence.
Bernardo Silva on the other hand is keen on a move to La liga, in search of a new challenge and also to be closer to his native land, Portugal.
Reports per The Athletic UK, states that it’ll take something extraordinary to convince Manchester City to offload the attacking maestro this summer. A transfer fee in excess of €100m should do the job for Spanish side, Barcelona.
The Etihad team however haven’t received any formal offer from Barcelona yet, despite strong ties between Silva and the Catalan side. With Barcelona very close to balancing their financial books, Manchester City would be looking forward to a bid in the coming weeks.
Barcelona however are hoping that Jorge Mendes’ good rapport with Manchester City would play a fruitful role in facilitating the mutually beneficial deal between the player and his dream club.
Jorge Mendes serves as the agent for the Portuguese trio- Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo, and also Brazilian shot-stopper Ederson. The Portuguese agent has also not made any advances towards seeing Silva switch allegiances this summer.
It is no secret that Bernardo will be greatly missed if he departs the Etihad in the few weeks left of the summer. City’s new vice captain, Kevin De Bruyne is still quite optimistic that his teammate will be a part of the newly begun season.
Kevin’s words on Bernardo Silva’s transfer:
“The way that I see it, I think that he will be here, so there’s nothing that I’m worried about.”
