It has been a really fascinating transfer window at Manchester City, and it is still about to get a lot more interesting as the window curtains gradually drape down. With the craziest transfers taking place at such twilight periods of virtually every window, Manchester City could still be in for more surprises over the next couple of weeks.
Bernardo Silva has been top priority at Barcelona for about a year now. The Spanish giants saw their opportunity to kiss their dreams fall to the ground due to their financial instabilities last season. It’s been over a year now but the Blaugranas have still not gotten over the nightmare; hence their dogged pursuit of Bernardo ahead of next season.
With Barcelona showing no signs of backing down in luring the Portuguese to Camp Nou this summer, Manchester City have had to start looking elsewhere for a replacement in case a deal is struck for the midfielder.
Although Barcelona are yet to meet Silva’s £80m asking price, their persistent consistency is probably an indication that they are not ready to repeat last summer’s loss in this window.
Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta has emerged as City’s elect to fill in Bernardo Silva’s void.
Reports according to TBR Football has stated that the Cityzens have gone ahead to negotiate a move for the Brazilian with his agent, Kia Joorabcbian. Paqueta’s £55m price tag is not an obstacle as Silva’s valuation swallows up the debt, and even leaves City with a lot of extra cash to splash.
Manchester City are aware that the Lyon wonder man may not come easy as they face very stiff competition from Arsenal FC. The Sky Blues are however really confident that they can beat the Gunners to sealing the Brazilian’s signature.
