Manchester City had a very tasking 2021/2022 season, challenging toe-to-toe on all fronts in almost every competition. With a last gasp Premier League title winning showdown and painful semi-final exits from Champions league and FA Cup, the players earned themselves a well deserved summer break. However, it’s been an engaging summer at the Etihad.
With the signing of four first team players in a still very open transfer window, Pep Guardiola has chosen a squad overhaul with hopes of adding more trophies to his well decorated collection in the coming campaign.
Pep Guardiola will fancy every opportunity to showcase his upgraded team ahead of the 2022/2023 season, in order to test their team play and probably highlight areas of adjustments.
Whilst Erling Haaland is expected to be the only regular starting player, Julian Alvarez, Kalvin Phillips, Stefan Ortega, and academy man Cole Palmer will be looking to make a statement to the Catalan boss saying, “I equally deserve as much game time.”
Guardiola and the entire Manchester City team will be looking to seize the pre-season opportunity to tie up all loose ends, in preparation for next season.
Guardiola’s men are expected to begin their pre-season campaign on the 16th of July, with a first touch down at Houston, Texas in a bid to lock horns with Club America. Afterwards, the Cityzens take on Bayern Munich before returning to England for the Community Shield Match against Liverpool.
With a lot of matches lined up for the forth coming week, Mancity are set to start their first training session on the 17th of July, 2022. This would be an opportunity for the debutants to meet their new team mates, and also a communion of already known City players.
