Borussia Monchengladbach have signed Manchester City defender, Ko Itakura, on a deal that runs through till the summer of 2026.
Itakura spent last season on loan at Schalke from City and bagged 4 goals in 31 league appearances to help the team secure promotion back into the Bundesliga after one season in the second division. Schalke did not have the financial capability to retain the defender on a permanent move, which saw the defender return to the Etihad and allowed Gladbach to sign him for about £5m
Itakura was signed in January 2019 by Man City from Japanese football club Kawasaki Frontale after a loan spell at Vegalta Sendai. He never played a competitive game for the Premier League giants, however, as he was loaned to Dutch side Groningen for two and a half seasons before he was loaned again to Schalke.
The defender will be presented to Gladbach fans on Monday and will travel with the rest of the team to preseason training camp.
