Nathan Ake is pleased to be remaining at Manchester City, while Manchester City are happy for him to remain at the clubs, reports David Ornstein.
Chelsea showed a strong interest in the 27-year-old defender but failed to meet Manchester City valuation, and the decision have been taken that he’s staying at Manchester City this summer.
As Manchester City look to defend their Premier League title, they also carry the same intentions towards their players too.
Despite strong interests from Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, Nathan Ake is set to remain at the Etihad. David Ornstein reported that Manchester City would only sell if their valuation for the Dutch defender is met.
As keenly as Chelsea monitored and followed Ake’s situation, they have reportedly not met City’s valuation for him. This may prove to be a rather unexpected stumbling block in their attempts to sign the defender this summer.
If the situation goes on as things stand, Chelsea may either look to sign another defender or come back for Ake next summer or in the winter, if they are desperate.
David Ornstein has also stated in his report that a mutual decision has been taken for 27 year old to remain and play a key role in Pep Guardiola plans.
Therefore, City may look to tie down the defender with a contract extension at the club.
Ake has reported for duty at the Etihad and trained with his teammates ahead of the pre-season which is only a few days away. He has shown prolific talent so far and will look to impress Pep Guardiola in order to secure more game time for himself.
