Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team has arguably the most deadly team in European football over the past half decade. Whilst Guardiola has built quality depth in virtually every role of the pitch, he has seemed to struggle in one area since his arrival in 2017.
Manchester City played the entire 2021/2022 season without an orthodox left back, which saw right wing back, Joao Cancelo claim the starting lineup in the area for most matches. Whilst Ukrainian midfielder, Oleksandr Zinchenko offered healthy competition to the Portuguese, his recent links away from the Etihad has forced the Sky Blue team to go in search of an orthodox left back.
Although, the blue Mancunian side have been heavily linked with Brighton’s left back, Marc Cucurella, a new name has recently popped on their radar.
According to BILD Sport, Manchester City have shown interest in VFB Stuttgart’s left wing back, Borna Sosa. The Croatian player ended the last season scoring 1 goal and assisting 8 in 24 appearances which shows his attacking prowess in the final third. This is most definitely a quality, Pep would be looking forward to harness.
If Manchester City are looking forward to finalising a deal for the Croatian, they should be willing to cough out about £25m.
