Manchester City legend, Vincent Kompany, has indicated his interest in the Blues’ duo, Taylor Harwood-Bellis (20) and CJ Egan-Riley (19). The youngsters are set to pen deals with The Clarets this week.
Having played under Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht before, Harwood-Bellis will reunite with him at Burnley on a season long loan deal. This would be the youngster’s fourth loan spell from Man City to other clubs having previously played for Blackburn Rovers, Anderlecht and Stoke City in the second half of last season.
Vincent Kompany was full of praises for Harwood-Bellis in an interview early this week regarding the 20 year old as a leader and looking forward to spending quality time with him to see how he improves his game.
Egan-Riley’s contract at the Etihad expires tomorrow and he will sign for the championship club immediately after. The 19 year old has been at the Etihad for over a decade and made 3 first team appearances last season, including the Blues 5-0 thrashing of Newcastle in the Premier League, the Carabao Cup match vs Wycombe and Sporting in the Champions League.
Now keen to have more first team game minutes, Egan-Riley will get the chance to feature in such games as Kompany looks to rebuild the Burnley team and see them qualify into top tier football again.
