Arsenal are in talks to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko with Manchester City open to selling, according to David Ornstein.
Manchester City have built a good business relationship with London clubs this summer. Seeing attacking duo Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling recently switch allegiances to Lodon, a defensive pair may likely follow suit in the next few weeks.
It is almost no news that Dutch defender, Nathan Ake is seeking a move to reunite with team mate, Raheem Sterling at Chelsea. Gabriel Jesus is also not left out as he is set to have team mate company at Arsenal in the shape of Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The Ukrainian international is a versatile player that has been under Guardiola’s successful reign since 2016. His versatility however has not been converted to impressive numbers, as Zinchenko has registered 2 goals and 12 assists in the course of his stay at the Etihad. With the 25 year old still in search of his first premier league goal, his breakthrough does not appear to be under Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.
Zinchenko has been linked with a move away from City for quite some time now, in search of more game time and also to play in his favorite midfield role as compared to his current left back role at present club. With Joao Cancelo impressing at the left back role and Mancity’s interest in Brighton’s Marc Cucurella, the Mancunian side are ready to part ways with the Ukrainian if the right offer is met.
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the player and is willing to slot Zinchenko into his Emirate side alongside Gabriel Jesus. This recent development is due to the North London club’s failure to seal a deal with Ajax’s Martinez a few days ago.
Mikel Arteta’s connection with Pep Guardiola could lure Zinchenko out of Etihad and to the Emirates, however it is no guarantee. Arsenal still have to make the right offer for the versatile player before their request can be granted.
