Just after the season opener against Fulham, Liverpool Midfielder Thiago Alcántara is set to miss up to six weeks of actions due to a hamstring injury, per reports from James Pearce of The Athletic.
The Spanish Midfielder sustained the injury in Saturday’s match against newcomers Fullham. Thiago started the match but was substituted in the 51st minute for youngster Harvey Elliot as a result of the injury.
Thiago is now expected to be sidelined for up to Six weeks and is due to return in Mid September, meaning he’d miss matches against Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 31 year old who joined Liverpool back in 2020 have had his Liverpool career plagued by injuries and have only managed a total of 71 appearances for the club since his £20M move from Bayern Munich.
His latest injury might prove a very big worry for boss Jurgen Klopp, considering the fact that Thiago is a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s team. Liverpool however have a flurry of Midfielders and Thiago’s injury is viewed as an opportunity for summer signing Fabio Carvalho to impress.
