Despite occasionally showing their ability to win games and be a top rated team again, Manchester United still have a mountain to climb to be fully addressed as such.
The Red Devils still prove to battle with consistency, which is required for them to gain the glory they once had in English and European football. This was clearly shown in their most recent 3-1 loss against Aston Villa over the weekend.
However, United are looking to turn the tables and take advantage of the January transfer window to fortify their squad for the rest of the season. The Old Trafford giants have identified Bayern Munich and Cameroon forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, 33, as a replacement for 37-year-old Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo in January.
Various reports have contradicted United’s ability to land the striker, stating that he is unavailable for sale in the winter. On the other hand, the Manchester club believe that with the right negotiations and offers, they will be able to secure a suitable deal.
Manchester United are also monitoring Netherlands and Barcelona forward, Memphis Depay, 28, who will demand to depart the Catalan side in January. It will be a tussle though, as Tottenham are also keen on the player set to rival The Reds in trying to sign him.
