Manchester United need a midfielder. They seem to be lacking in both central and defensive midfield. Following Paul Pogba’s departure and Scott McTominay’s lack of form, the Old Trafford giants have a lot to catch up on in midfield.
United are among other clubs that are considered making a bid for Aston villa midfielder, Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian midfielder was a fulcrum in Villa’s midfield last time out. He made 34 PL appearances for the club, scoring twice and assisting three times in those games.
For a defensive midfielder in the Premier League, Luiz had a rather clean record, earning seven cards throughout the season, one of which was a red card.
United’s efforts to sign the player may not count for good however. The Brazilian midfielder is set to sign a contract extension at Aston Villa that would keep him at the club for an additional three years.
Manchester United seem to have lost out on Frenkie De Jong and the new name at the Old Trafford is Adrien Rabiot. Fees between United and Juventus for the midfielder have been agreed, but personal terms from the player and his mother remain out of the equation currently. A deal can be finalised before the window closes.
