Manchester United have had the slowest start to the Premier League season without any doubt. The Reds lost to both Brighton and Brentford, leaving a lot of questions at the club unanswered.
United face rivals, Liverpool on Monday night. They too have had a rather terrible start to the season.
In Erik Ten Hag’s press conference ahead of the Liverpool match, here is what the Gaffer had to say:
Erik ten Hag on the analysis of last week’s 4-0 defeat at Brentford: “You see a game, you have a plan, then you check how the game went and see what is wrong and what is good. Obviously a lot went wrong but you don’t have to talk about anything when the attitude is not right.”
on the Glazer family/Monday’s protests: “I can only say, the owners want to win. We want the fans behind the team. I am not that long at the club I can see all the background. We have to fight together.”
on if Cristiano Ronaldo would still be a Man Utd player when the window closes on 1 September: “He is in our plans. That is what I can say. I don’t know why he is the focus.”
on Casemiro: “Until a player has signed I cannot tell anything.”
On injuries: “Victor [Lindelof] has not returned to the training pitch but the good news is that Anthony Martial is back in training with the team.”
on his own performance so far: “I analyse myself. I take notice of some criticism. Some are good, I take them. Some not so much.”
on Liverpool: “I know the rivalry, we are the rivals and we have to win every game, but especially this game.”
on the mentality: “It starts with yourself. Follow the rules and principles and work hard. If you do that, you will get confidence.”
