Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Real Madrid veteran Midfielder Casemiro on a 4 year deal, per reports from Fabrizio Romano.
The Red devils are expected to pay €60M permanent fee with a further €10M in add ons. United had been linked with Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong all season long but couldn’t get a deal over the line due to complications arising as a result of his deferred wages. The Brazilian joined Real Madrid back in January 2013 on loan from Sao Paulo, the deal was soon made permanent in the summer of the 2013/14 season. While he struggled for playing time under Rafa Benítez, he became a constant feature in Zinedine Zidane’s side, being an integral part of the side that won the UCL thrice consecutively. In his 9-year stay at the club, Casemiro had gone on to win 3 Laliga titles and a whopping 5 UEFA Champions League titles.
Casemiro now looked poised to join English side Manchester United in search of a new challenge. Manchester United also hope to solve their midfield crises with the signature of Casemiro.
While Real Madrid are yet to accept United’s bid, it is expected that the Spanish giants won’t stand in the way of the 30 year old should he favor a move away from the club. United on the other hand are looking to complete the deal as soon as possible and perhaps get him ready for the clash against Liverpool on Monday.
