Fabrizio Romano indicates City’s stance on Lodi

By Daniel AkpaAugust 11, 2022No Comments

There has been an earlier report that has indicated City’s interest in Atletico Madrid defender, Renan Lodi. This was just after the agreements with Anderlecht for Sergio Gomez had been concluded.

Some sources have regarded Gomez as part of Guardiola’s plans, others suggest him to be a part of the City Football Group development project. It is understood that Manchester City are on the lookout for a senior recruit at left-back regardless.

A number of names have been mentioned including Borna Sosa, Alex Grimaldo, Ait Nouri and recently, Renault Lodi.

Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has confirmed City’s interest in Lodi, stating that they have been interested since last month. Fabrizio however waves off rumours that talks with Atletico are progressing. The deal is off as things stand and there has been no formal approach for the player.

There is currently no pressure on City to sign a left-back before the window closes. Guardiola realises that he has options in that position already and seems quite content. If City can’t get a left-back before the end of August, they may continue their search for one when the winter window opens in January.
