Haaland reveals the reason Man City didn’t want him three years ago and responds to Mendy’s words

Erling Braut-Haaland was asked about Eduardo Mendy’s recent comments about him and said that when you ask him stupid questions, you get stupid answers.

Recently, Chelsea’s Eduardo Mendy said he look at Erling Haaland as Christian Benteke when asked how he felt about the striker signing for Manchester City.

“If you ask me stupid questions you will get stupid answers,” said Haaland. “I’m a relaxed guy. I just try to be myself. I say what I mean but I’m not a mean guy. For me it is a lot about having fun, working hard and being serious. That’s a good mix.”

Erling Haaland has moved to Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund this summer, and will even wear the number nine.

The 21-year-old striker said the club had not wanted him three years ago because they already had Kun Aguero, but he insisted that he is eager to enjoy football and win with Manchester City.

He added: “Three years ago Manchester City didn’t want me because they had Sergio Aguero so there was no choice about coming here.. I could have come here a lot of times in my career but I felt the other place and it was a really good choice.

“I knew that my father played at Manchester City and I was born here but moving back to England is a bit special. When I talked with my mum she wanted me to move to England because she lived here for over 10 years so it’s nice. We always went on vacation over here to watch games and to be in England because we liked it.

“And I think I can achieve what I want here. We have all the things together that can make something big happen and I want to be a part of that. I want to play good football, to enjoy, to win — all these kinds of things. That’s why I came.”

The Norwegian concluded by saying that he doesn’t think a lot about winning individual awards, but his main concern is to win trophies in Manchester City.

“Individual awards are not something I think about. I just want Manchester City to win,” he concluded.

“If people target me, it is more space for others. It’s not bad players I’m playing with so more space for them. I know people want to stop me and if someone puts five men on me it is more space for the others.
