Manchester City have progressed in talks to sign Anderlecht Left Back Sergio Gomez, via reports from Sky Sports
The Cityzens have reportedly submitted a bid of around €15M for the 21 year old. Anderlecht wants more for the player but negotiations have continued between both teams. The Spanish international is also an admirer of Pep Guardiola and Manchester City and is thrilled by a potential move to City.
Manchester City are desperate for a left back after losing Zinchenko to Premier League rivals – Arsenal. The Cityzens have also missed out on a deal to sign Marc Cucurella and are now looking to sign Sergio Gomez. The player was an integral part of the Anderlecht set up last season and had a chance to play under the tutelage of City Legend – Vincent Kompany
However, Manchester City are said to view the player as one for the future and might loan him out to a part of City Football Group – Girona. The Spanish side recently gained promotion and are also expected to bolster their squad going into the new season.
Should City sign Gomez and loan him to Girona, It could mean City’s hunt for a Left Back wouldn’t end and they’d continue their search for Zinchenko’s replacement.
