Tottenham beat City to sign left-back

By Olatunji TaiwoAugust 9, 2022No Comments

Totthenham have completed the signing of 19 year old left back – Destiny Udogie from Italian side Udinese for €20M, per reports from Fabrizio Romano.

The young left back Will be loaned back to the Italian side to spend the 2022/23 season. The Italian becomes Spurs seventh signing this summer, following the arrivals of Fraser Foster, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Djed Spence and Clement Lenglet. Spurs have proven their desire to challenge for the PL title this season from their transfer dealings so far and they started their 2022/23 campaign with a 4-1 victory over the saints – Southampton.

The North London club have ward off interest from EPL rivals Manchester City and have secured the signing of Udogie. The Left back will however spend the 2022/23 season on loan at Udinese as Spurs do not want to hinder his progress since they have Sessegnon and Perisic occupying the left back role.

This transfer means Manchester City’s hunt for a left back continues as the club have missed out on Marc Cucurella – who joined Chelsea and now Udogie. The Cityzens still have a number of options to pick from and only time will tell if they’d be able to complete the signature of any left back before the transfer window shuts.
